Collaboration between Newton, Thong Guan and ExxonMobil study on recycled shrink film

Demand for recycled PE shrink film is likely to grow in the next decade, pushing Polyethylene (PE) recycling rates to new heights. The entire packaging value chain will need to be ready to play a part in helping to cater to these changes.

Newton Centre, Thong Guan and ExxonMobil collaborated in a recent study on recycled shrink film, where recycled materials were tested and used to be made into new collation shrink film. Newton was invited to the ExxonMobil Cast Stretch Webinar happened on March 2021. He talked about the importance of load stability to transport safety. Also shared Thong Guan’s success story of how our high-performance stretch film meets the value chain needs. The webinar organised by ExxonMobil China, themed “Innovative stretch wrap solutions to improve load stability and do more with less”, focuses on both trends of performance upgrade and sustainability development.

Newton collaborated with Dow on conducting a ProtectionPlus Seminar for industries to know more about and gain publicity on the transportation safety of palletised loads. Also, using the platform to emphasise the transportation safety concepts to the seminar audiences.

Newton participated in ISTA’s Asia Packaging Symposium 2019 held in Manila, Philippines. Dato’ PK Ang was one of the speakers representing Newton. The importance of transportation and supply chain study in the Asia Pacific region is recognised in this event due to the immense complexity and connections between different countries that form this region and the complex supply chains present in this region. With this theme in mind, Dato’ PK Ang shared about the journey of pallets and various challenges and remedies available concerning load stability.

Sharing Solutions & Insights at GLCS Cambodia 2019

Newton participated in the GLCS Cambodia 2019, organised by the Cambodia Freight Forwarders Association (CAMFFA) and MV International. Newton provided insights at the conference with our expertise in transportation and supply chain solutions.

Cambodia has seen fast economic development with the rising investment from China and the growing demand for logistics and warehousing services in the Greater Mekong Subregion. The conference saw nearly 100 participants from 13 countries from the business and government sectors coming together to dialogue and share ideas.

Newton and ExxonMobil Asia Pacific Pte Ltd, one of the largest petrochemical companies, came together on the 16th of August 2018 to collaborate on value-added solutions for customers. It aims to help customers achieve load stability and safe transportation. The joint effort is the fruit of a shared vision on plastic film packaging and logistics operations development. The collaboration resulted in innovative solutions through test simulation, analyses, and consultancy, bringing value-added solutions to the customers.

Newton R&D Centre and Dow organised a ProtectionPlus Workshop for brand owners on the 20th of July 2018 at DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Penang, Malaysia. The workshop focused on helping brand owners with innovations for logistics packaging. On the 21st of July 2018, the entourage visited Newton Lab for some demonstrations and simulations.
